Choose roaming, an eSIM or an airport SIM before you depend on maps or messaging. Check device compatibility and activation terms before buying.
Prepare transit payment
A rechargeable transport card is useful across much of the Seoul metropolitan network. Verify the current purchase and top-up method at the point of sale.
Choose the onward route
Compare the whole journey: terminal, transfers, luggage friction, operating window and the final walk. The fastest advertised segment describes only part of the trip.
Luggage decision
Do not plan around a counter you have not checked.
Compare T1 and T2 storage locations, bag-size limits, hours and prices in the luggage-storage guide. Check the collection deadline before leaving your bags.
Plan B: keep enough time to retain your bags and change the itinerary if a preferred service point is closed.
Layover decision
Work backward from boarding.
A nominal eight-hour layover is not eight hours of city time. Separate immigration, baggage, transport in both directions, security and your return buffer before deciding whether to leave the airport.
