Incheon Airport to Myeongdong:AREX, Bus or Taxi

Match the route to your hotel's exact location

Hotels marketed as “Myeongdong” span a wider area than Myeongdong Station. Some sit closer to Euljiro 1-ga, Chungmuro, Hoehyeon, or Namdaemun.

Before buying a ticket, save these details offline:

• the arrival terminal shown for the operating flight;
• the hotel name, street address and phone number in Korean;
• the nearest station exit or airport-bus stop shown by the hotel;
• the final check-in procedure if reception closes at night; and
• a Naver Map or KakaoMap route from the exact bus stop or station exit to the entrance.

Finding ground transport at T1 or T2

All options in this guide are landside. After customs on an international arrival, or after entering the public hall on a domestic arrival, follow your terminal's ground-transport signs:

• Terminal 1: follow Airport Railroad signs through the Transportation Center for the T1 station. Buses and taxis leave from signed 1F curb areas.
• Terminal 2: follow Airport Railroad signs to the T2 Transportation Center. Rail and bus facilities are on B1; taxi ranks are outside 1F arrivals.
• Concourse arrival: follow the controlled arrival train and signs to T1. The Concourse has no public AREX station, bus curb or taxi rank.

AREX All-Stop and Line 4: the lowest-cost route

The AREX All-Stop route ↗ reaches Seoul Station from both airport terminals. At Seoul Station, follow signs for Line 4 northbound and choose the platform where the next stop is Hoehyeon, not Sookmyung Women's Univ. Leave at Myeongdong, the second stop. Seoul Metro's route result gives 1.6 km and three minutes on the Line 4 train; the walk through Seoul Station and the wait for Line 4 take additional time.

Fare and payment

The integrated fare applies if you use the same T-money card at every gate or buy one single-use ticket to Myeongdong, then stay inside the paid transfer route.

The single-use card includes a ₩500 refundable deposit. Exiting Seoul Station to the street and entering Line 4 later starts a new fare. The official Seoul Metro route finder ↗ returns the totals above for a continuous trip through Seoul Station.

First and last through trains

The complete AREX timetable workbook ↗ distinguishes trains that reach Seoul Station from later short-turn services.

Later trains shown at a terminal may end at Digital Media City or Geomam. On a late departure, read the destination display and choose Seoul Station. The 00:38 arrival is not a safe Line 4 plan: depending on the day, the final northbound train has already gone or the transfer margin is too short. Be prepared to use a licensed taxi from Seoul Station.

The AREX planner estimates 59 minutes from T1 and 66 minutes from T2 to Seoul Station. Scheduled runs vary, and those figures exclude the transfer walk, Line 4 wait, and hotel walk.

AREX Express and Line 4: a reserved seat

The Express is non-stop between the airport terminals and Seoul Station. It has assigned seating, a dedicated QR ticket and fewer departures than the All-Stop service. The live AREX sale interface ↗ showed ₩13,000 for a nonmember adult and ₩9,500 for a child on August 14, 2026.

The Express ticket ends at Seoul Station. Line 4 then costs ₩1,550 with an adult transit card or ₩1,650 with a single-use ticket, plus a refundable ₩500 card deposit. The combined adult fare is ₩14,550 with a transit card.

The published Express timetable ↗ has 26 trains per direction, with airport departures spaced 25 to 65 minutes apart. Compare the next Express with the next All-Stop train; waiting can erase the time saved on board.

The Express ticket guide ↗ covers online, app, machine, and counter purchases. Online sales close 20 minutes before departure; later station purchases depend on seat availability and the operator's cutoff. Wheelchair seats must be purchased at an on-site counter rather than online. T-money does not pay the Express fare.

Seoul Station to Myeongdong

For either train, follow the signed Line 4 route rather than a street exit. The AREX platforms are deep, and the transfer is longer than the three-minute Line 4 ride.

1. Leave the AREX train and follow Line 4 signs.
2. All-Stop passengers remain within the paid transfer route and use the same card or through-ticket. Express passengers enter Line 4 with a new transit card or ticket.
3. Choose the northbound platform where the next stop is Hoehyeon, not Sookmyung Women's Univ.
4. Pass Hoehyeon and get off at Myeongdong.
5. Follow the exit selected for the hotel, not the nearest staircase.

The step-free route is indirect. AREX lists ten elevators at Seoul Station, while Seoul's subway accessibility inventory ↗ lists two for Line 4 Seoul Station and two at Myeongdong. The Myeongdong street elevator is on the Exit 9/10 side. Published lift counts cannot confirm that every corridor is open; follow elevator signs and ask station staff about same-day outages.

A taxi from Seoul Station avoids the Line 4 transfer. Consider it when luggage or limited mobility makes the long transfer difficult; wheelchair users should confirm that the dispatched vehicle supports their equipment. Use a licensed rank or app dispatch. No official source publishes a fixed fare for this short leg.

Airport Limousine 6001 and 6015

Both routes charge ₩17,000 per adult and ₩12,000 for children ages 6–12. Choose by hotel and travel direction because the routes use different stops.

Airport boarding and operating span

The first T1 departure at 05:29 originates there, ten minutes before the first 6001 leaves T2. Check the table for your terminal; traffic, weather, and service changes can alter operations.

Which citybound stop should you use?

The 6001 route page ↗ and 6015 route page ↗ open direction-specific stop panels with landmarks and pins. On 6015, north Myeongdong comes before the bus loops through Euljiro and Chungmuro to Myeongdong Station. Staying aboard until a stop named Myeongdong can make the trip longer and place you farther from the hotel.

Tickets and payment

Buy an airport-to-city ticket before boarding at either terminal. The operator has required advance purchase from a B1 counter or machine at T2 since March 5, 2026 ↗. T1 counters are near arrivals gates 4, 6, 9 and 11, with ticket machines around the same curb zones. The operator's ticket-office guide ↗ lists machines at both terminals as open 24 hours.

The operator does not offer online reservations for 6001 or 6015. On the city-to-airport trip, pay the driver with T-money or Korean-won cash. The operator does not accept ordinary bank cards, Climate Card, or Discover Seoul Pass as normal onboard payment.

Children and baggage

One child under six may ride free with each fare-paying adult if the child does not use a separate seat. A second child under six, or any child under six using a seat, pays the child fare.

The current baggage notice allows two pieces per paying passenger, carry-ons included, with each at or below 28 inches and 20 kg. It lists ₩8,000 for an extra item. The formal contract instead uses a 160 cm combined-dimension limit and a different excess-charge formula. Taxi from Incheon Airport to Myeongdong

Use the designated Seoul taxi rank or the named pickup point for a booked service. Ignore ride offers inside the arrivals hall.

Regular metered taxi

The IIAC Taxi Guide ↗ lists a ₩4,800 standard base fare, but no current official source quotes a meter fare specifically from ICN to Myeongdong. For planning, budget roughly ₩60,000–₩80,000 on a daytime meter, plus toll, and check a live estimate before travel.

Seoul's standard night surcharge is 20% from 22:00–23:00, 40% from 23:00–02:00 and 20% from 02:00–04:00. There is no out-of-city boundary surcharge between Incheon Airport and Seoul. The passenger pays the road toll used by the driver; current primary tables differ by route, so there is no single “airport toll.”

Deluxe and jumbo taxis have a ₩7,000 base fare and a 20% night surcharge from 22:00–04:00.

Official International Taxi flat fare

The separate International Taxi table ↗ places Jung-gu, including Myeongdong, in Zone C. Its airport flat fare is ₩85,000 for a sedan or ₩120,000 for an SUV, van or deluxe vehicle, plus the actual toll. This does not apply to an ordinary taxi taken from the standard queue.

A vehicle advertised for up to nine seats may not fit nine people and their luggage. Tell the dispatcher the passenger count, full-size bag count, stroller and mobility equipment before accepting the car. A jumbo taxi is not automatically wheelchair accessible.

Arriving after midnight

K Airport Limousine N6701 provides overnight public transport to north Myeongdong. It stops at Euljiro 1-ga / Lotte Hotel Seoul on the north edge of the district, not at Myeongdong Station. The operator route ↗ and IIAC's T1 ↗ and T2 ↗ pages list an adult fare of ₩18,000 and child fare of ₩12,000.

Plan the walk or a short licensed taxi from Euljiro 1-ga to the hotel. Confirm the hotel's late check-in procedure and expect many shops and street vendors to be closed. Recheck the N6701 timetable and ticket method after landing; a 6001/6015 ticket does not confirm travel on N6701.

Luggage and step-free travel

The AREX passenger terms allow two ordinary pieces per passenger, each under 32 kg and under 158 cm for the three dimensions combined. The All-Stop train has metro-style seating and shared floor space. The Express provides a reserved seat but does not waive the luggage limit.

For a step-free rail journey:

1. follow Airport Railroad elevator signs at the terminal station;
2. use the long signed elevator route between AREX and Line 4 at Seoul Station;
3. board Line 4 on the platform where the next stop is Hoehyeon; and
4. use the Myeongdong street elevator on the Exit 9/10 side, then take the surface route to the hotel.

AREX publishes Seoul-bound platform lift positions 2-3 at T1 and 3-2 or 4-2 at T2. Temporary closures remain a live condition. General station accessibility does not prove that every corridor, platform gap or hotel approach suits a particular device.

The standard 6001/6015 coaches use step-up boarding. The operator's published information does not promise a wheelchair lift or occupied-wheelchair securement. Ask the operator about a folded device and luggage capacity, or arrange a vehicle that explicitly supports the passenger's equipment. IIAC lists accessible-taxi call numbers, but airport coverage, eligibility and wait time need advance confirmation.

Returning from Myeongdong to Incheon Airport

The curb used for arrival may differ from the airport-bound pickup. Save the return route separately before the departure day.

Train from Seoul Station

Allow time to reach Seoul Station from Myeongdong, find the deep airport platform and wait for the train. The first rail arrival may be too late for an early flight once the airline's check-in, bag-drop, security and boarding deadlines are counted.

Airport-bound buses

Use the direction-specific 6001 return page ↗ or 6015 return page ↗. For example, 6001 arrives between Myeongdong Exits 3 and 4 but returns from the Exit 8 and KB Bank side. At the city pickup, pay the driver with T-money or Korean-won cash.

A city departure time does not show when the bus will reach the airport. Add a traffic buffer and meet your airline's terminal deadline. If the first train or bus cannot do that, use a taxi or stay near the airport.

N6701 also runs toward ICN from Dongdaemun Design Plaza via Euljiro 1-ga. Its published headline departures are DDP times, not Myeongdong-area pickup times; check the current Euljiro 1-ga time and curb on the operator page before relying on it.

Plan B

• Missed the Express: take the next through All-Stop train if it reaches Seoul Station sooner.
• Late train ends before Seoul: leave only at the displayed terminal station and recalculate; do not assume a short-turn service reaches Myeongdong.
• Bus stop does not suit the hotel: use AREX, then Line 4 or a licensed taxi from Seoul Station.
• Lift outage or unsuitable coach: ask staff for the step-free rail route or book a vehicle that confirms the required equipment.
• Public transport has ended: use the designated airport taxi queue.
• Hotel cannot receive you: book a suitable landside airport room before leaving ICN.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a direct train from Incheon Airport to Myeongdong?

No. Both AREX services end at Seoul Station. Continue two stops on Line 4 toward Jinjeop or Buramsan, or take a licensed taxi for the final leg.

How much is the All-Stop Train from ICN to Myeongdong?

For one continuous paid-area journey, the adult transit-card fare is ₩4,750 from T1 or ₩5,350 from T2. A single-use card costs ₩100 more and requires a refundable ₩500 deposit.

Is the AREX Express worth it for Myeongdong?

The last All-Stop trains that reach Seoul Station leave T2 at 23:32 and T1 at 23:38. They arrive at 00:38, too late for a dependable Line 4 transfer. Plan a taxi from Seoul Station. The last Express leaves T2 at 22:40 and T1 at 22:48.

How much is a taxi from Incheon Airport to Myeongdong?

An ordinary taxi is metered, with the road toll added. For planning, budget roughly ₩60,000–₩80,000 on a daytime meter, then check a live quote; traffic and night surcharges can raise the total. How do I reach Myeongdong after midnight?

N6701 runs overnight from T2 bay 18 and T1 stop 3B to Euljiro 1-ga near Lotte Hotel Seoul. It does not stop at Myeongdong Station, so plan the final walk or taxi. The regular airport taxi rank remains the door-to-door option.

Can I use T-money for the trip?
