Airside and landside are different bookings

An airside room sits inside the secure transit/departure area, before arrival immigration for a transferring passenger. It works only when the passenger and luggage can follow the secure transfer path. A landside room requires entry into Korea, even when it is physically attached to the airport.

Use our Korea Visa Navigator before booking any landside stay. A hotel or booking platform cannot decide whether your passport and itinerary allow entry.

Walkerhill Transit Hotel: airside in T1 and T2

Walkerhill's FAQ says the transit hotel is primarily for international-to-international connections. The same FAQ separately says an international-to-domestic connection may be possible after confirmation with the airline. That contradiction matters: ask both the operating airline and hotel about your exact tickets, next boarding pass, terminal and baggage routing.

  • T1: 4F secure area, across from Gate 11, according to the airport facility directory.
  • T2: 4F secure area near Gates 251–252; the hotel and airport use those two nearby landmarks.
  • Rooms are sold in time blocks. The T1 Standard room page describes six-hour use and a 12-hour minimum for check-in after 20:00. Check the live price before paying.
  • Checked luggage cannot be collected from the transit area. The operator tells guests to arrange through-checked baggage with the airline.
  • A booking for the day before departure does not create early secure-area access. Same-day departure formalities control access.

Family rooms exist, but the T1 family-room page contradicts itself about the bed combination. Confirm the selected terminal's beds and occupancy in writing.

Darakhyu: landside in each Transportation Center

Darakhyu's FAQ says transfer passengers must pass immigration before staying. It directs travelers who cannot enter Korea to the airside Transit Hotel.

Darakhyu’s room and booking pages give different day-use and overnight boundaries. Use the times on your reservation confirmation.

The bathroom label is easy to misread. An official T1 “Bed & Shower” booking result says the shower is inside but the toilet is public and outside the room. “+ Shower” does not mean a full private bathroom.

Darakhyu does not offer extra beds, cots or family rooms. Its FAQ allows limited sharing by young children in some double rooms, but age and occupancy rules can change. Confirm the child's age, chosen room and branch directly. Each branch lists one accessible room, yet neither publishes enough dimensions or bathroom detail to establish suitability.

Confirm T1 or T2 from the flight, not the hotel listing

Check the e-ticket and the airport's live passenger departure search. The airport warns that codeshares and operational changes can move a flight from the general airline assignment.

T1 and T2 require transport. The systems are not interchangeable:

  • Airside shuttle train: part of the secure transfer route. On the airport's T1-to-T2 example, trains board about every five minutes and passengers cannot return after boarding.
  • Landside airport buses AIRPORT 03 and 04: connect terminals and airport-business-area stops, but are not 24-hour services. The current route page lists roughly 04:30–23:35 for AIRPORT 03 and 04:30–23:20 for AIRPORT 04.
  • AREX: stops at both Transportation Centers and Unseo. Use the official rail information for the travel date.
  • Hotel shuttle: each property sets its own stops, timetable, reservation and luggage rules.

T1-side choices

Grand Hyatt publishes the simplest two-terminal claim, but the precise timetable needs direct confirmation. Check the exact name and address: Hyatt says the former Grand Hyatt West Tower became the separate Hyatt Regency Incheon Paradise City, while Grand Hyatt continues next door. A driver or booking platform needs the correct property.

Paradise City and Best Western also sit in the T1/International Business Center area. Paradise City's current location page and its 2026 notice disagree about T2 hours. Best Western's dated PDF is clearer: T1 service is hourly between 06:00 and 22:00 from the hotel, while its T2 pattern is less frequent and irregular. Neither claim makes walking from the terminal a good default.

T2-side choice

ibis Styles publishes pickup at T1 3C and T2 4A. Its current timetable shows many T2 trips between 05:00 and 22:10, with a long break around midday; T1 trips are less frequent. The official pages direct travelers to a shuttle or a T2 long-term-parking-bus fallback. They do not document a pedestrian route from the terminal.

Unseo Station

Unseo broadens the hotel and food selection, but the airport transfer depends on AREX or a taxi. On the official AREX site, choose Station Information to check T2, T1, Airport Cargo Terminal and Unseo. Check the first or last train for the actual date rather than relying on an undated blog timetable.

For any Unseo property, verify the legal address, route from the station, lift access and current operating status. If it advertises airport pickup, get the terminal, stop, timetable and reservation procedure in writing.

Compare the trip, not the headline room rate

Include these costs and constraints before choosing:

  • final tax-inclusive room price and the rate-specific cancellation deadline;
  • transport in both directions, including a taxi if the shuttle fails;
  • the first usable return trip for your terminal;
  • occupancy, bed setup and bathroom arrangement for the whole group;
  • luggage limits and the wait for a first-come, first-served vehicle;
  • breakfast only when it opens early enough to use.

Early flights and late arrivals

Work backward from the airline's required terminal-arrival time. Add the hotel-to-terminal trip, a missed-shuttle margin and the walk to the correct counter. If the first shuttle is too late, choose a matching terminal hotel or arrange a taxi; do not shorten the airline's check-in margin to save the room booking.

For a late arrival, landing time excludes taxiing, immigration, baggage claim and the walk to the pickup point. AIRPORT 03/04, AREX and hotel shuttles all have operating limits. Ask what happens after the last run before choosing a non-refundable rate.

Nest publishes a narrow exception worth checking: qualifying direct bookings with a flight before 08:00 may receive a taxi to T1 or T2. The hotel excludes third-party and Marriott bookings and asks for the flight ticket. Treat this as a live booking benefit, not a general promise.

Families, luggage and accessibility

An advertised bed does not establish permitted occupancy. Ask the hotel to name every guest, child age, bed type and any cot or connecting-room requirement on the confirmation.

Darakhyu has no extra beds, cots or family rooms. Grand Hyatt and ibis Styles publish larger room categories, but availability and maximum adults vary by room. Walkerhill's T1 family-room page contains a bed-description conflict, so written confirmation is especially important there.

For step-free travel, verify the full chain: terminal curb, vehicle lift or boarding step, luggage help, entrance, lift, door width, bed transfer space, shower and toilet. ibis Styles lists reduced-mobility rooms and several accessible facilities; Darakhyu lists one accessible room per branch. Those pages do not prove that the shuttle and room work for a particular wheelchair or transfer method.

Plan B: protect the flight

If a shuttle is canceled, full or missed, use the property's Korean address and the official airport taxi queue. Ignore unsolicited drivers in the arrivals hall; the airport warns about illegal solicitation and overcharging.

If disruption threatens the return, move to the correct terminal earlier. Arrange the taxi before the hotel shuttle stops running.

Before booking

Save the final room price, time block and change or no-show terms with the reservation.

  • For Walkerhill, confirm airside access with the airline and hotel for your exact tickets, terminal, boarding pass and baggage routing.
  • Check your arrival pickup and return shuttle separately, including the terminal stop, first and last runs, reservation requirement and luggage allowance. Paradise City publishes conflicting T2 times, so obtain its current schedule directly.
  • Arrange a taxi if the shuttle leaves too little time for the flight. Ask the hotel about a walking route before relying on map distance.
  • Request the room setup you need: family occupancy, crib, bathroom arrangement or accessible-room measurements.

Frequently asked questions

Which hotel is inside Incheon Airport?

Walkerhill Transit Hotel is airside in both terminals for eligible connecting passengers. Darakhyu is landside in the T1 and T2 Transportation Centers and requires entry into Korea.

Does Darakhyu have a private bathroom?

Do not assume so. Official booking text for a shower-equipped T1 room says the shower is in the room but the toilet is public and outside.

Do hotels near ICN offer free shuttles?

Can I walk from a nearby hotel?
